Join Mike Collins, Mark Childs and Mark Williams as they bimble their way through a game of the excellent Walkabout MiniGolf, and share their thoughts on the state and challenges of VR in education.
We recorded this all the way back in 2021 (who ever would have thought we’d look back on that fondly, as the world around us gently slides down the back of the service station urinal and in to the clogged drain of 2022) as a little experiment – and we’re quite chuffed with how it turned out! If you’d like to see more of this type of content do let us know via the Twitters.
Just to update on the hiatus as well:
Mike here! If you’re following us on Twitter you might have seen that we went on a temporary hiatus at the back end of 2021. Unfortunately I had some life challenges come up that made a bit of a chunky dent in my physical and mental health, and found myself having to scale back on a lot of my extracurricular projects in order to prioritise keeping the train on the tracks both professionally and wellbeingingly. I’m gradually on the mend now and starting to pick up the various fun and creative projects (like Pedagodzilla) again.
While publishing has lagged, recording has carried on – with some cracking stuff recorded in the back bit of 2021 including:
- Are learning styles the boss level zombie of neuromyths? This is with the fabbo Mary Jacob. Due to a technical hiccup we’ve lost a portion of the recording – but we’re going to meet up and re-record the second bit in the near future
- How can the RZA, the GZA, Raekwon the Chef, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, Method Man, ODB, U-God, and Ghostface Killah inform our online collaborative learning experiences? With host of the cracking Gettin Air, Terry Greene.
- How is gamification like being trapped in the Matrix? And what is the ‘real-world’ of game-based learning? With James York and Jonathan DeHaan, this belter has evolved in to a super paper that James and Jonathan will be releasing soon.
I’m slowly getting back in to the swing of producing and editing (I managed to stay on schedule with my other podcast, The Infinite Escape Room…just!), and would like to throw out a special thankyou to the guests we recorded with recently (who didn’t get me at my best, and generously carried the episodes on their backs), my co-host Mark Childs who has been fabulously supportive, and of course those of you reading this post who have listened to the show.
The current plan is to build up a little stash of content, and then re-start regular releases as a Season 2 before Easter. Did you know we were doing Season 1 before that? Nope neither did I. I propose we call Season 1 ‘Open Cold Killer’ and Season 2 ‘The Dogmatic Axiom Star’.
Stay safe, and much love
Mike
